Green Coyote Cantina Cuts the Ribbon on a Second Location in Avondale Estates
Green Coyote Cantina, the Tex-Mex spot that's run in East Cobb since 2022, held its official ribbon-cutting this week for a second location in Avondale Estates, in the new downtown DeKalb County has been filling in around the town's green.

Green Coyote Cantina held its official ribbon-cutting Monday, October 26, for a second location in Avondale Estates, in the new downtown DeKalb County has been filling in around the town's green over the past two years. The original Green Coyote has been serving Tex-Mex out of East Cobb since 2022; this one sits at 70 N. Avondale Rd. #110, on the ground floor of one of the new mixed-use buildings in that district, and it has quietly been open and serving since September while the restaurant worked through its final city approvals ahead of Monday's ceremony. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
The opening landed real coverage, not just a press release. The AJC counted it among its September roundup of notable Atlanta-area openings, and The Infatuation reviewed it October 1, rating it 7.5 out of 10, which the site calls "Good." The reviewer's top pick was the steak fajitas, $24 and served sizzling on a platter built to split two ways. The rest of the menu runs a baja fish taco (battered cod, cabbage, lime mayo), a Korean cowboy taco that's smoky but runs heavy on the sauce, and a quesabirria with a well-built consomme, plus a flight of the restaurant's Coyote Juice margaritas if you want to sample more than one.
This reads as a neighborhood restaurant more than a destination one, and that is worth knowing before you plan a trip around it. The Infatuation's own take is that it works best for people who can walk there in about five minutes, and the patio, strung with lights and facing the green, is as much the draw as the food. It is built for the people who already live within a few blocks of it, which in Avondale Estates right now is a fast-growing list.
For a client looking at this stretch of DeKalb County, the more useful fact isn't the tacos, it's who opened here. Green Coyote already has a built-in following in East Cobb and didn't need a second location to survive. Putting one on this particular town green, inside a downtown district the city has been rebuilding since the first wave of businesses arrived there last year, reads as the chain betting on the neighborhood ahead of a lot of buyers who haven't caught up yet to how much has filled in around it.
Go on a weeknight before the patio fills up, split the steak fajitas between two people, and ask for a table facing the green rather than the parking lot side. If you're weighing a house or condo in walking distance of downtown Avondale Estates, this is exactly the kind of thing worth factoring in: not a listing feature, but a sign of which direction the block is headed.
